Being a single parent is difficult. I would be lying if I told you otherwise. But, I will tell you that there is hope! You can learn to be a strong, sufficient, and capable parent. Many single parents struggle with self-doubt. “Am I doing the right thing?”, “Am I spending enough time with my children?”, “Are they going to be ok?” – these are all questions every single parent has asked himself or herself. The answers are not always simple and often times are not the answers you want to hear. But, there is hope! And you are capable of being the best parent that your children need you to be! Here is a list on the top three things that every single parent struggles with and how you can overcome them.

1. Being a dual role parent
The first thing to keep in mind is that you may be the only parent, but you don’t have to be two parents. Single moms and single dads are just that: single. So, don’t try to be two parents when you are the only one. There might come a time when your son or daughter might ask you a gender specific question, but don’t let that intimidate you. If you don’t know the answer than just be honest with them and tell them that you don’t know. Maybe even do some research on the internet and see if you can find a good answer for them too. Don’t let being the only parent make you feel like you have be two people.

2. Feelings of Guilt

Probably one of the toughest things about being a single parent is that you have to ask more from kids than you normally would. Sometimes, in order for your family unit to work you might need to rely on them to pick up the slack where they wouldn’t normally have to in a dual parent family. This can lead to some feelings of guilt for the single parent. These feelings are things you shouldn’t need to worry about. As long as, you communicate with your children about why they have to do this or that, they will understand. They might not understand immediately, but they will eventually.

3. Anxiety

Most single parents struggle with finding a balance between spending quality time with their children and juggling work and other life related issues. This can lead to feelings of anxiety and fear. More specifically its the anxiety of doing the right thing and the fear of your children “jumping off the deep end.” These feelings are very common and should always be addressed. The best thing to do is find someone to talk to. Either a close a friend or, in some cases, a professional counselor. It is important to keep your feelings in the open and maintain a level of vulnerability with your loved ones.

Being a single parent is difficult, but it is not impossible. Millions of parents do it every day, infact. It is important to be honest with yourself and what you are feeling. Discuss your feelings openly with people you trust and everything will be alright!

You’re a single mother, so money is tight. You don’t want to be tied down to the same low income you currently have, so you want to break free and do something on your own. That makes perfect sense.

The only problem is that you don’t have thousands or even hundreds of dollars to throw into a business, even if it’s the best idea that’s ever been thought of. The good news is that you can start a business with zero investment. You just have to work a bit harder to get it off the ground. So yes, that means you shouldn’t quit your day job just yet.

Welcome to the World of Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding is a system that has enabled entrepreneurs to start their businesses with less money than they had ever imagined. Investors fund new businesses because they are looking for good ways to use their money that will benefit others.

It takes work, skill, and a little luck too. However, if you learn the ins and outs of it, you’ll be well on your way to collecting money for your business. [continue reading…]
